01 deuce $?
new to this site....im looking for some input. i finally have enough money to buy a harley(used). i came across a 2001 softail deuce with 32,000 miles. seller wants $8,900. first off im looking for a deuce because im 6ft 6in tall. ive read some posts on here that seem to agree the deuce is the best for a tall rider. other than that, the millage concerns me. with little known mechanical history on the bike im just not sure. should i look at somthing with lower miles? and what about the price? thanks for any input.....

Have a Deuce in the garage also. A 2006 but that really doesnt matter. I'm 6'4" and as to the fit for legroom, it was ok but wanted more. Ended up spending somewhere btwn 300 and 400 bucks and added Kuryakyns forward control kit which gave me an extra 3 inches. Something I'm sure you might look at with your heigth. Look at the bike and ya should ge somesort of indication as to condition which sort of tells you how he might have also taken care of the engine. Wouldnt worry about that mileage. As to the price, guess just check KBB or NADA

Just bought my 2001 Deuce (see pic below) this past fall. It had 21k miles and was in great condition. I paid $6995. I ithink you could do better.

Mine is an '06 as well with just under 34,000 mostly highway miles. Had the cam chain pads checked, (made of newer material than the one you're considering) they showed very little wear. I'm 6'4" and it suits me fine with the sundowner seat. I owe about as much on mine as this one is going for, LOL. I'd 'haggle' on the price, but that's me. Seems a good deal if the bike is in decent shape, do a test ride, (might need cash in hand for that). Good luck.

the mileage doesnt matter so much as long as you check,or replace the cam tensioners and she will go like a freight train! replace cam tensioners or put in gear drive cams
in saying that my cam tensioners lasted 70,000 k, but they were hanging on by a thread,

I have a 2004 Deuce with 47.000 miles on it. Still looks and runs great with 0 issues. I do my own maintenace so I know it is done right.
$8900 is way too much for a 2001 Deuce unless they have a ton of extras on it or it is a Screaming Eagle Deuce/CVO. In my opinion, I would think about $7000 would be a more reasonable purchase price providing the deuce is in very good condition. I was recently offered $7000 in trade for my Deuce by a Harley dealer on a 2008 Street Glide. I had to walk away from that one. Had he said $8500 for my Deuce, we would have had a deal.
I bought my Deuce because I am vertically challenged at 5 foot 7 and the Deuce is more for someone my size. I don't know who told you it is for taller people but I would dispute that statement. I would suggest looking for a bigger bike, like a Road King or Glide if you are over 6 foot. Again, just my opinion.

i have a 2000 Deuce and I'm 6'3 previous owner had installed Ness extensions for the controls which is good i put the kury "bat-a-rang" pegs on it to give me a little more leg room when cruising. Need to find a seat that allows me to sit back a little farther in the saddle. Got a badlander right now. As for price i think you can definitely do better, mine had 12000 miles original on it and ALOT of extras and i got it for 9k out the door which was NADA/BB value.
