Been so long since I even thought about leaded fuel , you are right .
It's kind of a moot point, around here in Detroit you can buy lower-end race gas from multiple stations, however it's only 110 unleaded. I think you can only get leaded fuel from some airports as avgas or direct from race gas resellers, but you'd be buying drums of it and pumping it yourself. I'm not pumping fuel out of 55 gallon drums each time the bike needs a fill-up.
Im always surprised when i read about how low the octane rate is in the states,over in the U.K and i think in the rest of europe its 95 or 97,so i assume the bikes must be tuned differently to take note of that, mind you we sure do pay for it around 8 to 9 bucks a gallon in your money.
It may be a difference in the way the Octane level is measured. While I was stationed in Deutschland, one of my AAFES buds told me that even though the number is higher, it's equivalent to US content, just measured differently. For what that's worth anyway...
