Installed new Apes. LOTS of pics!
I finally got to install my new 13", 1.25" diameter internal wiring handlebars yesterday.
I had started to do it a couple of weeks ago, and had taken the seat, old bars, and gas tank off only to find out that the wiring extensions I'd ordered were WAAAY too short. I did learn a few things, such as drain the gas tank as much as possible using a siphon, lube the wire harness before feeding it through the bars and be very careful not to break any terminals and keep some extra terminals on-hand in case I do. I learned these things by spilling about 1/2 gallon of gas onto the driveway when I disconnected the crossover hose, the wire harness got jammed inside the bars when I was feeding it through, and breaking (and then soldering) a terminal. After all that, is when I discovered that the extension kits were too short...[:@]
So, I ordered a couple of 10" extension kits and got all the parts I needed (extra terminals, a siphon, etc...) by Friday, and yesterday I installed the new bars with a lot less hassle!
I also changed the grips, and went with the Contoured Chrome and Rubber Custom Hand Grips with Skull End Caps.
I took her for a 30 or so mile ride last night after finishing the installation, and WOW, what a difference! The reason I wanted the new bars was to bring my hands in a little closer while raising them, but not above my shoulders, and these bars are perfect! Plus, they look pretty badass, IMHO! My riding position is more comfortable, and I found that my back is staying solidly against the back of my seat, so it's getting better support. I guess I was leaning a little forward with the mini-apes.
Here are some before and pics. The before pics were actually taken on the day I tried the swap the first time a couple of weeks ago. The after pics were taken today... after it rained.
Cheers!

Looks awesome Clammy! You just did the black wrinkle tool box a couple weeks ago. You still happy with that? I am thinking about going that route on my train.

Looks good,if it's comfortable where you have them fine. But maybe pushing them a little forward would be better.Just give it a try.
