Default purging

I am trying to find out some info for my Brother about his 2002 Fatboy. He is wanting to know if you have to purge the lines when you run the bike out of gas. He can't seem to get his started. Also, if you don't disconnect the battery before you remove the gauges and tank, could it damage the fusible link and if so.... where is it? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Should not need to purge the lines. I've run bikes outta gas and they just take a little priming to get fuel back in.

My Bros bike is fuel injected..and as you may have guessed....he is not near me to give me all the info needed to give to you and I am DUMB about bikes. I am always the one on the back of them...ha ha...and the only thing I can tell anyone about bikes that I know for fact (I learned the hard way cause no one told the new rider....me)....is to get away from the bike when it is going down...I rode it out at 75 mph while the driver disapppeared and well.....thats my only "FOR FACT" knowledge. And I want to thank you for taking the time with me to help my brother out.

Sure. FI is a little trickier to get reprimed (cannot just pour fuel into butterflies). Could try a little in the plug hole.

AFA battery when working on electronics I unwire it. But for fuel stuff it stays on.

not sure but the fuel pump is in the tank in the (fuel) dont see how purging the supply line would help but like efi cars it is cooled by the fuel he may have killed his pump can you here it run when you turn the switch to run before you start it? if not no power or bad pump.
