Hi. i just bought a 2007 dyna glide
i need to know where does and what does "glide" refer to in the model name?
this is driving me nuts trying to find the meaning. it seem to have start very early in the HD history of using glide in the model name

As far as I know it's part of the model names long used by Harley. Electra Glide, Super Glide, Wide Glide, Tour Glide, etc. I think it was first used in the Hydra Glide because of the hydraulically-damped telescopic forks that let's you "glide" down the road.

Actually it refers to what you do every time the engine conks out. lol

Right. The 1949 FL was the first bike to have hydraulically-damped telescopic forks and was thus named the Hydra-Glide. Glide has just stuck since.

Yup and in 1958 I believe the Hydra Glide turned into the Duo-Glide, then in 1965 came the Electra-Glide, In 1971 along came the FX1200 Super Glide.

Actually its the transfusional flutter valve of the front rubber mounted proportionality tubes on certain Harleys that make up an optical succlussion of most front ends that will give U a better ride in Ur opinion.
