My dipstick reads error on on it when I push the button, does anyone know how to fix this so it reads temp? can you change the battery on it?

Not a solution to fix it but, I was looking into getting one of those at one point, but all the threads and reviews I've read have people saying they have the same issue as you. That the LCD is cheap junk that doesn't work as advertised.

With that I'm going with the analog version.

You can change the "watch" battery on the LCD Dip Stick. This maybe all that's needed to remedy your issue.

A few years ago or so when they came out I was going to get one......the dealer said NO they're junk and they wont sell them. But they did give me a great deal on an analog temp gage.

Sorry.

I've had my LCD Dip Stick for a year now mounted on my '09 FXDC. It has worked flawlessly in extream South Florida weather.

No problems with mine until some ******* stole it. When it read error I changed the battery and it was fine.

Believe what you read in this case. Been there, done that.

It doesn't get real messy until the retaining clip comes apart and some of the nine ball bearings go down the oil fill spout. Ask me how I know?

A P.O.S. Half the dealers won't even carry them.

No problem with mine so far.. survived snow storms, sand storms, Death Valley..

If it does go belly up, I'd probably get an analog replacement since a LOT of people
seem to have had problems with them.
