I only have an hour or two and don't really know alot of good rides around Boston, specifically north of the city. Any ideas?

I used to live in Framingham, try rt 2 around ayer and shirley, that used to be pretty nice up that a way. (In NC now)

The best I can say is to head north to US rt 1 . This is a bad time of the year everyone and their mother out looking at leaves.

I miss New England! The only exciting thing about riding in Florida is dodging the headless drivers and illegals! Why go north this time of year? Go down to Hull, thru the south shore down to Duxbury, Plymouth, or a day ride to P-town for the freak show. Nice riding down Rt. 18 to New Bedford, countryside of Easton, Attleboro, Bridgewaters. West thru the country. If you have to go north with the rest of the sightseers , go thru Beverly to Gloucester 127 then if you really want go for a day to Conway NH, turn left onto the Kangamangus Hwy and enjoy. Better get on and ride now before it snows!!

A nice ride right outside of Boston is the route 2A loop that runs through Lexington and Concord passing all the historical battle sites. Continue on 2A for 10 miles or so and take route 126 to Walden Pond then take route 117W (nice scenery, low volume of traffic, and nice twistys) for about 20 miles to route 62W to the Quabbin resevoir and back. Total trip about 100 miles or so but goes through nice small towns and stays away from city and highway traffic.
