..I've been at many a wreck scene and heard car drivers say to the Police..
(I hit him because he was being a noisey A hole)

The Police rarely do anything to the driver even after they make a point of
telling the officer they hit him or stoped short on him on purpose.
I seriously doubt this [sm=bs.gif]

Like I said, possers will call BS" to anyone who actually rides a motorcycle
because they have no clue what really is going on out there in the real
riding world...

I'm with you on one thing my friend, if I was a non riding motorcycle owner
you know posser type rider I would be in denial about what really goes on
out on the streets so I could keep my nerve up to ride my 5 to 10,000 miles
a year...

You ride safe as you can now Ya" Hear"

I expect to be thought of as weird to people in Posser,R.U.B. and Yuppie
land..

I ride over 50,000+ miles a year, thats some where in the area of 5 to 6 sets of tires a year, 12 to 15 oil changes, about 1250 gallons of gas, a few of sets of brake pads ECT" You get the idea. Back in my younger years 100,000 miles a year happened a few times, now that I'm old I've slowed down some, I'm at about 60,000 for 2006 as of today!

Most motorcycle "owners" have no way of knowing about riding and think it is
weird...

Works for me!

The other side of the coin...I hit a deer, not to mention to large dogs, even with loud pipes.

You can call it BS if you like, but with the miles I have put on
riding motorcycles in the last 40+ years I've seen this plenty
of times (not from motor officers though) they will hang you
if they can for hiting a motorcycle, I've seen that also!

I have seen many times also, EMT's get to the wreck scene of
a car VS motorcycle and they will leave the motorcycle rider
laying in the street to attend to the car driver first and if the
car driver is bad enough they will just leave the motorcycle
rider laying there till other EMT's get there, if no more come
the motorcycle rider is on his own to possibly die....

You can call that BS if you want to as well, because most riders
would quit riding if they thought this could happen to them, so
denial is a good thing to most riders...

I have lived and rode in some of the highest volume motorcycle
riding areas in North America and owned motorcycle shops in
those areas and riding 50,000 to 100,000 miles a year I see more
wrecks in a year then most do in a life time. (been in a few myself)

I/we live in the Blue Ridge mountains area now for 9 years and I/we
see as many as 8 motorcycle wrecks a day on weekends around
here sometimes. Heck 3 weeks ago we saw 4 in one morning!!

Most Officers are great people, most EMT's are great people, but
those same great people can turn cold as ice toward a motorcycle
rider laying in the road hurt at a car VS motorcycle wreck scene!!

BEEN THERE SEEN IT" HAD IT HAPPEN TO MY TWO BEST FRIENDS
WHO DIED AT THE SCENE BECAUSE THEY HELPED THE CAR DRIVER
........("DRUNK CAR DRIVER AT THAT") ......
AND LEFT MY FRIENDS TO DIE!!!

IT HAPPENS....AND MY FRIENDS KIDS LOST THEIR MOTHER AND FATHER
THAT DAY WHEN THEY COULD HAVE POSSIBLY LIVED!! You can't change
that fact by calling BS" to it!

You can call that BS" also if you like but my wife and I were also involved
in that head on wreck on our motorcycle that day we just got lucky and did
not need EMT's or Police help!

I've seen other motorcycle riders die that I never knew, because the people
in the car were much more important to the rescue people. The first one I
ever saw happen where the motorcyclest was left to die while EMT's and
Police were to busy helping the car person I was 15 years old and it made
me very sick then mad as HE!! after I was done being sick... you can call BS"
on that one to if you like!

Like I said Posser's, Yuppies and R.U.B.'s have no clue what really goes on
out there in the motorcycle world because their to busy living in there Marlin
Brando fantasy world in stead of riding motorcycles, their totally hang up on
playing Mr. Dress up on weekends to have time to get out and ride their
motorcycles to see any of what really goes on out there! They only want to
be in groups where they can attract attention to themselves to feed their
EGO's, thats why Bike Weeks and Rallies draw so many non riders possing
as motorcyclests or bikers!

I'll give you this 211, if you have been there for all of that you have certainly earned the right to your opinion. I don't even think it's a bad opinion.

My pipes are loud, I bought the bike like that. It's my first motorcycle. I feel bad about having those loud pipes but unfortunately I don't have the scratch right now to change them. I can however order the quiet baffles which will reduce the sound 3-6 decibels.

Living in the mountains, versus living in the city is different. People in cities are much more acclimated to noise. Do they like it? No. Not usually.

Since you've lived in the cities, you understand that. Aside from being relatively inexperienced, and having loud pipes, I try to be as safe and courteous a rider as I can be. There are more and more bikes on the road today as a by-product of fuel costs, insurance costs and the need to be part of something bigger than ever before. More people want to live life. Life has more meaning when wars are going on. That put more inexperienced bikers on the road.

If a car decides I'm it's target because of loud pipes, then I have to try and be as defensive as possible. Chances are, there's little I can do about it. Loud pipes probably weren't the thing that pushed them over the edge. If that was the case, they'd act on impulse and punch the bass-music in the face at a stoplight -or- go outside and shoot the garbage truck workers that come through the neighborhood at 6 am.

I agree the noise could be a contributing factor to road rage, but chances are the biker would be doing something aggressive also to initiate a road rage response. It would be easier to run a cyclist down with little to no punishment however, as there's a topic in the off-topic forums about a road rage cage proving it.
