First Ride of 2011 - Who started the New Year off right?
Got a break in the weather. The temperatures warmed up, and the snow and ice melted off the main roads and was able to get out for a ride.
Nothing special, but sure felt great and was the perfect way to start off 2011.
Who else made it out?

Finished last year off right with a few hours in the saddle Started the New Year off by washing the FXDF, putting some fuel stabiliser in the tank and putting it to bed for the next 6 months Deploy on Monday for 6 months at the 5th Fleet HQ in the middle east, if I'm lucky and get a R'n'R I might be able to get back to the UK and ride around April but no gaurantees

up in hudson valley NY, i went out for about 100 miles yesterday and 300 miles today, today it was real nice in the sun, once the sun went away it was pretty cold again.
trying to clean the bike and all the salt off is a real pain took me nearly 2 hours to get the bike clean. now the bike is washed, stabil in, tender hooked up and it's probably staying like that until mid-march (unless we have another 50 degree sunny day this winter, then i just can't resist.).

Not me...Yeah, where I lived it warmed up and melted the snow off the sides of the roads, then the water ran into the near solid white, salty roads. Riding down the road gives you a nice salt bath. I'm not riding till we get a hard rain.

25 degrees but sunny!
Layered up, plugged gloves in, went for the HOG Chapter polar-bear ride.
(lot shorter than I expected, but dammit got a ride in)
Even the Mrs got bundled up & rode with me. Sadly, we had to do it on her bike as mine is in the shop with a stupid electrical gremlin I just couldn't find on my own. But hey, that's why they have warranties, right?
As for nasty salt on roads...we had a short but HARD storm yesterday, so roads were nice & clean....but dry by this morning.
