The old school guys still say it.It has always come to mind when I throw a leg over anything other than a Harley.

No, but I do remember this saying, actually it was more of a reputation:

You don't walk up to a Harley, you slide up to it.

Not true anymore these days, but I had a 75' Sportster back in the 70's that lived up to it.

My 2005 SE Fat Boy sits you more into the bike then on top of it.
I had a Triumph chopper that really sat me into the bike. When I stood up and straddled the bike, the seat was the same height as the back of my knees.
