I have the Harley version on my Softail along with the "Backoff" Brake module installed....(in blinks five times quickly then burns steady) and everyone says I stick out like a sore thumb when brakes are applied. It's also tied into my red/tail/running/brake/signal lights.... Is it as bright as the BAL,,probably not, but it keeps the cages back with it's LED Brightness and the pulse of the "Backoff" Brake module.
The BAL has the same type of configuration. I have mine set to quickly flash three times twice and then burn steady. The pulsing along with the LED definitely helps in getting the attention of those behind you.
You are right! We don't want to buy from an American company! What a silly idea! Just because they came up with the concept, marketed it and have turned it into a sucess. Why would we want to keep American workers employed?
Sounds to me like you should sell your Harley and buy a metric wannabe. After all "surely one of the copy cat overseas companies will be offering nearly the same thing for a lot less"
Sheesh....
Borrowed this pic from the classified section. Fatbob front wheel.
It might not be an American losing their job just because it's on a Harley.
I do agree with the idea of buying American if you know that's where it's made.

Dang for that price I could pay a midget to sit backwards and wave a stop sign.
Kills me, people won't bat an eye at paying a grand or more for chrome, pipes, saddles, bars, and a host of things that are for nothing more than appearance, yet won't spend a couple of hundred on something that might actually save your life someday. Each to his own I guess.
I'm not sol that a superbright tail light is safer, the reg led's that flash get huge amounts of attention without being a distraction to the people behind you
The price offered on the BAL website is the same I paid at my HD dealer. The basic BAL-1 part number is $199.
The BAL 1 sounds like the ticket to getting noticed. But the Harley tail light is $140.00 list price. If you purchase it online, you're looking at 20% off the list equaling $112.00. That's a pretty big price difference. Price vs. safety...? Either way it's a tough call but, neither is a bad decision. The Harley LED is definitely brighter than stock.
