You guys are silly...
Don't you know that in this new politically correct country of ours that no one is responsible for their actions.
If I rob a liquor store it isn't because I am a criminal, it's because I had a disadvantaged childhood...
If I die in a MC accident(not involving an idiot in a cage), it isn't "a chance I took" to pursue my what I enjoy. Hell no, it is YOUR FAULT for not stopping me...
Obviously if you were not willing to protect me from myself the lawyers must sue you to teach you the errors of your way. (and pay for their condos in Aspen).
Glad I could set you all straight...

As far as all the people that hate lawyers - it's like the police: most people hate you until they need you, then they're your best friend. If this was a story about a Phoenix lawyer putting up his own money to finance the lawsuit for the families of the bikers killed by the meth-head garbage truck driver back in March, people would be saying how great he is. Since nearly all personal injury suits are financed by the plaintiff's lawyer, I guarantee there are 1 or more Phoenix lawyers doing exactly that right now.
Yes, if this story is true (I can't find any relaible report on the suit, so it may be an internet myth) these layers are scumbags without enough sense to realize that (a) this is a frivolous lawsuit they can't possibly win and (b) this will kill their "motorcycle lawyer" business, since even helmet wearers don't usually support helmet laws. How about the lawyer on the other side who wins the case in favor of staying "helmet free" and possibly prevents more of these suits?

I am not a lawyer, but for all of those who profess to dislike lawyers; Please go back to High School and retake Civics. Do not pass Go do not collect $200. Pay particular attention to the role of Case Law and the function of Joint and Several Liability in our legal system. Quick summaries of these concepts and why they exist:

You forgot all of the lawyers who have became judges---they are all scum of the earth. Nothing but ticks feeding off a society's ***.
