Default High Lift Fix

After seeing the above thread on the lower pivot point failure I decided to reinforce my Harbor Freight high lift. The original design really did not fully take into account the actual stress on that bottom pivot point. Doing some crude back of the envelope calculations I came up with about 20,000 psi in the weld material with a 1000 pound load on the lift. Assuming the weld material is good for 35,000 psi that doesn't even leave a full 2 to 1 safety factor. I added some gusset plates and replaced the 2 highest stress fasteners with grade 8 so I could confidently lift my bike.

I like that high lift jack. It has worked well for me.

Thanks for posting this. But ya know, even with my bikes on the J and S jack, I just never feel to swift when seeing my bikes up like that.
