Will you let your friend borrow your bike?

Been riding a long time and maybe i'm a little ole school, but where i come from you don't ask to borrow someone's bike. Known a few guys that would sooner let you fu*k their ole lady than ride their bike. Now if the owner throws you the keys and says take it for a spin that's different. Currently, i only have one friend that i trust enough to let him ride my bikes. And that's only because i know he has the cash to fix it if something happened.

A buddy of mine's dad flew out from Missouri and needed to borrow a bike. He's a solid dude. I let him ride my 1100 V Star for a day trip. He owns the same bike back home, I had no problems letting him ride. Would be less likely to do if I didn't know the guy that well.

You can not blame on him. You have no proof! Just curious!

I hope you've meant "solid dude" as a knowledgeable person about motorcycle.
This makes me think about the perception of knowing a person (good friend) versus knowing a motorcycle knowledgeable friend, is two different things regarding this matter.
Will you let your dad's friend borrow the bike, if he never owns a bike, and has no knowledge about bike? Just curious!

One of the questions from my friend that I really want to know. Please HONESTLY tell me whether you will let your friend borrow your bike for a day, or a few hours.
Why, or why not? What is the unwritten rule?
Remember that your friend may get upset with you, and you may loose a friend.
To me, my bike is my "girl-friend", and my best companion.

No issue with any fellow club member borrowing my ****. I know they would fix anything they broke.
Lent my woman's bike to a brother for a few weeks at the moment which she ain't too happy about but what ya gonna do!

Nope, and here is why . . . . there is always a 0.0001% chance that something bad will happen. Even through it may be no fault of my friend, it's not a conversation I want to have with a friend. Saying no, up front is less of a problem in a friendship than the conversation you're going to have, (or going to try and avoid) if anything gets broken or worse.
