Depends on the friend and my perception of his responsibility and riding ability.

I don't let anyone borrow my bike for a day or a few hours. I might let you take it around the block if I know you and trust you, but that's about it. If I'm losing a friend because he can't borrow my bike, then good riddence. He wasn't much of a friend to begin with if something like that can come between us. I can't off the top of my head think of a reason that it would be crutial for someone to borrow another persons bike especially for a whole day. If there is some unwritten rule, I don't know it, nor do I care to. All I know is that I wouldn't dream of asking to borrow anyone elses bike for a day, and I wouldn't let anyone have mine for that amount of time either.

I don't let anyone borrow the bike, but I have three bikes and I let friends ride one of my bikes with me (except the Harley, only my brother or I ride that).

However, I will not ride anyone else's bike. If something happened I would feel responsible even if it wasn't my fault and I don't want the responsibility. I borrowed a friends car once. The battery died and it cost about $50 to replace it; back when $50 was a lot of money. I learned my lesson.

Only my brother....Period! If I lost a friend over me not loaning my bike out then he wasn't a real friend. My bike is like a family member to me.....A family member I love! lol...

What's that word I'm looking for....NO! I think it is pretty low class to even think about asking someone to borrow their bike. Too much can happen out there.

I guess a lot of people have a differant idea of FRIEND then I do. I don't have but a couple of FRIENDS, and what I have they can have. Now if you are talking of people you know and hang around with, thats differant. But my few FRIENDS I think of like I would a brother. What is mine is theirs.

No reason to ask to borrow a bike(rent one). I would let a friend borrow a minivan if he needed to move cargo.
