I think that dude should have saved some money and bought a duel sport bike, but hey it's his bike and life and he's using them both 100% so gota respect him for that.

advrider is a great site with good folks and a lot of great adventure based info and road stories.
Love it if HDForums would create a forum just for ride reports, iIm sure we'd have some really good reads.
The roadking held up to a lot of serious abuse, and while it needed a belt change and a few other fixes along the way, the bike and the rider took it through some pretty brutal terrain and it held up great.

That guy is more daring than I would be on a RoadKing. I sure don't don't mind dirt roads or gravel, but I wouldn't be riding across streams or through mud up to the engine. Gettin' an 800 pound bike out of deep mud can't be much fun. His trip to Sturgis and NY would be nice on the RoadKing but I would get a used beater GS BMW for those off road excursions

Ehh, that bike should keep going after a little R&R. Even if it doesn't it got more ridin done than most Harleys get in their lifetime. To each their own of course but I hate to see bikes sit in the garage year after year and end up with 3000 miles after five or ten years.
