A non DOT helmet is worth about as much as a leather dew rag. Might as well go without. But, all you gotta do is stick a DOT sticker on the back, then your all set.

if you get the chance look at some pictures of people with head injuries you want to talk about mushroom looking heads. You want to look good just tie a bad as$ dew rag on your head and ride. Just had to get that out of my system.

Plenty of low profile old school helmets on that link...
They have a 2 pound carbon fiber one for 34 bucks, DOT approved.
I picked that one up, plus one for my wife.

What do you think about them? I was thinking about getting one. Can you lay it on the floor and shatter it into a million pieces just by stomping on it, like a novelty helmet? Novelty helmets are just that, fake, DO NOT rely on a novelty helmet at all for protection. I am interested in these carbon fiber ones. I don't know anyone personally that has one. Anyone else out there have one? I might start another thread with this.

The leatherup carbons are posers.
It is not a carbon fiber shell, it's a polycarbonate shell, same as the other colors. It just has the carbon fiber look. That's why they are only 34.95. Nice helmet though.

BTW, coupons for leatherup http://www.tjoos.com/Coupon/6150/Leatherup

I own a ZOXX 1/2 helment. Very comfortable, fairly low pro, mine is a small, so smaller shell and liner. 50 delivered from xchoppers.com

Only thing I can say about helmets is this... try em.

Notice that most helmet ads picture them without heads inside them? That's cause they all look stupid.

Last advice... ride without them if and when you can because someday you wont be able to...anywhere.
