You do not need to buy editing software. It will play on Windows media just fine. But I bought the editing software so I can add music and cut some of the video out. The Go Pro is a great memory maker for your trip!!

Yeah, don't know about WMM Live but maybe it has the right codecs so it will import GoPro files, but I know for a fact the program that comes bundled with Windows won't.
