Finally found me a bike!

Ummm...yeah... I did notice it was green.
Good thing I have a paint/body shop business so I can paint it any color I like (most likely black or pewter).
But I'll prolly ride it like it is for one season to decide on a customization theme I want.
Besides green ain't bad, it's the color of money!

I have been looking for another RoadKing Classic ever since I was an idiot & sold mine 2 months ago. Have looked at about 20 so far, but am very picky & I always find an issue or 2 with every one. There is one particular issue that is very common on RoadKings.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT when looking at used RoadKings. There is a frame crossmember directly under the tranny on RoadKings that hangs down a little lower than the frame tubes. These are usually bent on about half of the RoadKings I looked at from hitting low curbs or speedbumps. I have in recent weeks turned down some really nice bikes because this cross member was bent on just about every King I looked at. While it doesn't seem to affect the bikes handling, if the frame has had an impact hard enough to bend that crossmember, I don't want the bike. I would guess that about 12 out of the 18 or 20 Roadkings I have looked at had the bent crossmember. Not having any luck here, & may have to buy new.

Yes, it does look like a dogbone. Edges, or in some case the entire bone is usually bent upwards, from hitting a curb, or possibly improper lifting. When I'm considering a bike, it's the first thing I look at. If it's bent--the inspection is done!
