Close One!
I know another thread asked about feeling safer on a bike and to answer that, No.
Last night I truly think the bike saved me though.
I was driving in 4th lane of our Beltway when I noticed a car a couple of lanes over turning hard off the exit across two lanes. Almost so much that they were angled almost sideways. As I saw this I thought "thank goodness I was in my lane or I may have hit them". Then I noticed another flash in my mirror and realized another car was in the second lane and was about to hit them. That car then veered left shooting right at me! Came right in to my spot in my lane. Luckily I saw this and managed to get in the couple of feet between the last lane and the highway barrier. My handle bars were just off the concrete. That car then saw me and got back over and of course did the hand waving and pointing back as to say sorry it was his fault not mine.
After sleeping on it I truly believe that had I been in my car I would have been in a severe accident. There was no room for any car, I would have been hit at 70mph and driven in to the barricades. Grant it I would be dead if he hit me on the bike but this time I had some luck and was new enough to spend every moment trying to scan the roads for killers.

glad you made it out, been in a bunch of crazy close ones around these parts - finally settled on a pretty aggressive style - go fast enough and its like all the cars are sitting still

Rode a sporty in the mid 80's in Dallas, thank God for superior stopping power and agility of bikes, or I'd been toast more than a few times. Glad you made it out alive.

I drove that beltway for many years (in a cage) and finally moved out of NoVa a few years back... don't miss that traffic one bit. Glad you came out ok. That sounds like defensive driving at it's best.
