Check her out, fire her up, idle out of the garage, park in driveway, get my gear on, then head out. Probably idles for about 5 minutes.

It sounds like some of you (especially ArcticH) let it idle for much longer than I'd dare - in the old days, anything over 2 minutes was a fouled plug. So after a brief idle, I just chug her out and ride as if I were running out of gas for a while.
It doesn't matter if it runs well or not; it's a matter of getting all the expansion of the parts to fit where they are designed to.
But I'm gladly surprised no one mentioned fouling plugs from overidling - could be the new idle rpms are helping with that.

I let mine warm up before I ride out....even at 6:30 in the morning. I also let my truck warm up before I get her motivated.

I let her warm up ever since it cut out on me once and I almost lost it when the power came back on rather abruptly. Shared the chit outta me!

Let it warm up as I'm putting on my gear and then slowly take off.

Much better fuels now and more acurate fuel metering with fuel injection, Even the carburators (like on mine) are better designed. In the old days you would drown out a motor using the "choke" lever which on a lot of carbs was just a butterfly to cut off the airflow.
