Would you have bought a Harley if...

I've loved every bike I ever owned. As far as a Harley that isn't a V-twin, I'll decide when I see it. One of those old singles would be welcome at my place. I'd probably be able to keep it in the living room.
I don't use my bikes for pulling stumps, my truck has a V8 and is a much better tool for that job.

I, like many here have had many bikes over the years and I loved most of them. My Dad had a Harley ( when I ws just a kid) and it left a mark that nothing else could reach. Later, working at a motorcycle dealership that carried several brands (not HD) when a Harley did come around they were unlike anything else around, they were different then and still are today, anyway... Made in America for over 100 years, survived everything, they have a sound and feel that nothing else can match. That heavy longstroke pushrod v twin has everything to do with that.

I like V-Twins for cruising around town. But if Harley made a better smoother motor for their cruising line-up that would be fine with me also. I would have still bought Harleys if they used other motors than a V-Twin. It would still be American Iron and I'm sure companies would make high performance and shiny stuff for it anyway.

Hard to say, but someone else would probably have it. Harley does for me what late 60's American V8 musclecars do for me with that big cube sound...except the Harley does it even more.

The V-Rods are V-twin engines. Liquid cooled and throwing around alot of H.P. and revs..but still American made and V-twins. How would this help?

No, Not me. There are many great motorcycles that are not American made that I would own. I bought mine because I liked the way it looked and felt and performed. But I also like the BMW R1200R or Triumph Thunderbird as well. All 3 are about in the same class but all very different bikes.

That's what I got out of it. No, I probably wouldn't buy a Harley that wasn't a V-Twin, but then again, if Harley wasn't a V-Twin, nobody would think V-Twins are cool to begin with.

I drive a Nissan truck and shoot a Glock - "American made" is not my main reason for picking a Harley.
