My favorite would be an 06. It was the only year you could buy a carbed train with the 200 rear tire and 5 speed trans which I prefer.

Sad i know but for some reason i kept all their brochures from 1991,and yes the n/train came out with an evo engine in 1999,before going to twin cam in 2000,ive got an 06 88,but unlike 06fxst mine came with fuel injection,as for which is the best people are going to tell you different things, personately im happy with mine, though i would think most guys on here would go for the 96 engined version,if you need any more info i can look it up in the brochures.

99 - 80" Evolution solid mount non-counterbalanced 5spd
00-06 - 88" Twin Cam solid mount counterbalanced 5spd
07-09 - 96" Twin Cam solid mount counterbalanced 6spd

Carb/EFI, Rear tire size 130/150/200, and Paint are the only real other differences between the years.

If i were to get one I would only get a 07-09 since I would want the 96ci and 6-speed. also the 200 rear tire is a must IMO to look right on that bike.

Sounds like a 06 would appeal to me the most with the 200 rear tire and the great sound of the carbed motor. Thanks everyone for all info.. keep it coming if you have more!!!
