Question is: Will you change pipes just for sound? Thinking that if the pipes sound good enough that will save some $$ for now. Then make changes later for performance (or not).
Thanks

I'm loving the stock pipes on my 07' Ultra. It is a touring bike and a Harley; the stock pipes are loud enough to let you know it is definately a Harley, yet they are quiet enough you can tour many miles comfortably.

Flame on.
I'm not changing crap on my 06 bob. Blasting loud pipes just pisses people off and I don't buy the loud pipes save lives either. The EPA crap going on now is due at least in part to idiots blasting around with pipes on you can hear 2 or 3 blocks away. Excessive pipes are in the same catagory as the idiot with the car/truck sterep that you can hear thumping a block away. People need to be more considerate of others, end of story.

I just put a set of slip ons on my Road King yesterday. I think I lost some horsepower and Torque. My bike was lean before I switched them and now it seems fine. The 02 sensors on the pipes should change the fuel mixture not even knowing which mufflers you run.

Picked up an 07Deuce last weekend (replaced my 02 which drowned in the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina), and can't wait to get rid of the stock exhaust. I'm on the waiting list for V&H BR's. They will not only give me more sound but also allow me to fully raise the passenger footpeg, and show off my chrome swingarm, and other right side bling.

Although I'd always love to have "just a little more ballz" from the pipes, I'm happy with my '07's stock and have no plans now to change 'em out.

Here's another vote for keeping stock 07 pipes. I like 'em.
(If "loud pipes save lives", why aren't all the BMWs and Goldwings having problems?)
