Don't you think you answered your own question if you really do have a friend that works at the dealer in question.

I bought a Triumph Bonneville from them that got taken on trade. I bought it off an ebay auction they were running. I called to ask a couple of questions but never called back. About a week later they called me and asked if i was going to buy it. I told them I would offer $1000 less than the "buy it now price" and they accepted. When I went to pick it up the finance guy asked the sales manager if he had gone over the bike to with me to explain how everything worked. His answer was "what the hell do I know about Triumphs?". Anyway I told them I had already owned one of the new Bonnies. Rode it home to Connecticut that afternoon. looked like a pretty nice dealership.

I don't think the MoCo gives that much notice when they close the dealerships and certainly not to the employees. Our local found out on a Wednesday and the doors were shut by the following Monday. They all seemed pretty much in shock when I stumbled upon their unadvertised going-out-of-business sale. They were selling the inventory off cheap (by HD standards).
