Why are MC wheels so expensive?
While I was waiting in my dentist's office today I was scanning a "Car and Driver" magazine. I flipped to several full page, color adds of all these really custom looking wheels for cars. I mean they were chromed, some blacked and chrome, spokes, slots, solids, mags, etc. They looked like the very expensive MC wheels as far as finish, style, color, etc. except that most of them were around $100 "to start" and some as cheap as $68 freakin' dollars? Then I look at "aftermarket" MC wheels and the "cheap" ones are like over $400 ea. and go up to a breath taking $3 GRAND or more for a lousy wheel? Has anyone else ever noticed this or is it just me? Probably just me. I did find one chrome plating service where I can swap my OEM spoked mags for the exact same wheels only chromed for $795 for the pair plus a $300 core charge? Anybody researched MC wheels and prices?

So what isn't expensive when it comes to motorcycles? I was looking at possibly changing my floorboards (rider and passenger) and it would come to just about $600.00. Crazy!

You only pay that if you want to , if the general public said enough in just a short while those 800% mark up products would start becoming affordable again .

MC wheels are more than car/truck wheels most of the time. My 8 LUG Welds I had on my truck were about $750 a piece. A guy on here told me he spent about $1100 on two bike wheels. Its technically cheaper but look at the difference in wheel size.My welds were 18x12.
My buddy spent over $2000 for his ZX-10R wheels. They were marschini or some crap. Some expensive wheel.
But yeah most of the time bike wheels seem to be more. Its crazy. You get a whole lot more wheel in a car/truck wheel. A lot of times you can get car/truck wheels cheaper and they are mounted/balanced and some time with tires.
I remember searching for wheels/tires. 22s and 40s was just under $5k. A guy above stated he wanted CF wheels for $5k, insane.

They charge what they do, because they know enthusiasts are fanatical about this stuff, and will pay what they are asking.
I bought mine off eBay with just a couple hundred miles on them for a 1/10th of the price.
If I could do it all over again, I'd just keep what the bike comes with.
