I am out of it...

Its your decision and you are quitting for a good reason. I've been in two accidents in the last few years, one a cage pulled out in front of me (just damage to the bike.) The other a bike coming towards me lost it and slid into me. (Totaled the bike and my arm.) both times my wife was with and she says she won't ride again. Me I am still looking to replace my bike and hit the road again next spring. Until the last accident though I didn't realize how dangerous my entire family felt about motorcycles. Gave me second thoughts about riding, but I enjoy it too much.

I did the same thing 2 or 3 years ago... Bought a boat when I sold the bike...
go buy a boat!
I totally understand. My decision to get rid of the bike back in '07 or '08 got my wife really ticked off at me! She LOVED riding. I just couldn't picture her in a hospital bed (if we were that lucky). She doesn't drive, she rides pillion. She just couldn't get it.
Now that I've been married a bit longer, I can picture her in the hospital.... JUST KIDDING HONE!!!!! No, really, I can relate. Maybe you'll get over the feeling, maybe not but I respect your decision!
(No, really... go get a boat now)

It's crossed my mind, too. I've got 3 seven year olds at home. I was just getting the wife warmed up to riding more and then a guy she works with had an unlicensed driver pull in front of him and kill him. She's all done riding now .

I can understand your decision, BUT if we allow the cagers to force us to quit riding then they have in fact won, for everyone of us that either quit or get killed we have to replace them people two fold. The only way to win against the cages is to show mass numbers and maybe one day we can out number the cages on the roads.

Definitely been a tragic riding season and I don't blame anyone for wanting to take some riding time off. Hang onto your gear...you'll be back. Have a good rest & enjoy the time away to reflect on other good hobbies.

I know just a little accident can hurt you real bad on a bike, something I think about all the time, deer, cagers, tire issues, etc, etc.I just love motorcycles and riding them to much to stop, for now that is.Good luck to you and be careful in all the other things you do.

I absolutlely love riding! But I got to admit, it crosses my mind from time to time also. I don't have the space or $$ for two toys, but I don't think I would have a problem slipping back into a muscle car convertible if needed.

I've been riding on the street since 1982, and have almost 300,000 miles behind me. Still, there are days, as I get older, that I wonder if I've pushed my luck too far for too long. Maybe that's why I have the bike put away already. It's deer season up here, and I've had too many close calls with those "antler rats" over the years.
Good luck to you, whatever you end up deciding.
