Nope...I thing you've been rooked. Never heard of this charge - seems made up. Any deductions should've been taken into consideration w/trade-in value of old scoot...

I bet they also charged you a 'documentation fee' for the titlework on your new bike. Car dealers and bike dealers do this to get more money for 'work' that entails nothing more than getting the title out of a file drawer and typing the needed info on an
MV-1 form. I'll bet if you check your contract you'll find it there. They HOPE you don't see it and walk.

I've had them say that's their 'policy.' I tell them it's my 'policy' NOT to pay a few hundred dollars for something that takes less than 10 minutes and 20 dollars to do!

yeah theres no way I would let that happen. If the dealer tried to do that to me I'd tell them to kiss my ***.

Dealer will also add that same money to the new buyer so they are going to make an extra $650 easy. You should have told them to stick it. IMO

Dealers are either going to f**k you on the trade-in or on the new purchase. I have never traded in a bike and only twice with cars, I always sell them 1st then walk into the dealership with cash down payment. Then you only need to negotiate the price of the purchase.

As many have already stated, they will get away with what ever you let them. If you balk and tell them the add ons are deal breakers I would bet they change their "policy". I have bought two bikes in the last fourteen months and didn't pay doc fees or any other such hidden costs. I pointed out to them that $35K in sales was a good enough number for them not to nickle dime me with nitnoy fees. They agreed.
