According to this article, he did serve onto the side shoulder. He then lost control of the car. Once that happens most people will over correct and the car will shoot back across the road in the other direction.

That maneuver forced a westbound Dodge Avenger sedan to swerve on to the sandy shoulder to avoid a head-on collision.

Stanton said at that point the westbound car veered back across the road and into the cyclists.

"He lost control and then his vehicle just drove into the group of motorcycles," he said.

Sad, sick situation! Odds are, they won't ever see that car or driver again.***** I sincerely hope I'm wrong with this prediction!

Prayers and condolences to those who were involved in this. Can't really say it's a accident when the person that caused it really comitted outright murder by not using his brain. Hope they find you whoever you are. You shouldn't be on the road ever.
Drive Safe and always think about others you might hurt or kill by making stupid manouevers behind the wheel.

I saw this on the news this morning when I got up. How tragic. My thoughts and prays to the the families.

I've been on that road a few times. It can be dangerous, but only if you drive stupid. I hope they catch the person that caused the accident. I have no doubt they know what they did or they were drunk.

Of course not. My point was, more and more lately I've been seeing multiple bikes involved in preventable accidents. Mostly caused by inattentive or distracted drivers.

Prayer for the families, I saw the story on the news this morning, the pictures showed the bikes skid marks.
What a waste.
