Kickstand spring

Kickstand spring
The kickstand on my '09 fat bob isn't snapping up like it used to. If I push it all the way up it stays, but with just a nudge it only goes about half way. I want to fix this before it starts dragging. Anyone know what I need to do here? Thanks.

Buy a new spring. Take the bolt out of the top of the stand, (bolt that is through the tab) fold it forward take off the old spring put on the new one , lube the shaft on the stand put the tab and bolt back on your done 20 min. tops.

Did the oil thing but only helped a little. I started to hear it hit the pavement around corners so must have been time for a new one. Must not be as good as old springs. My triumph spring is 15 years old and still snaps to attention.

Buy 2 or 3 of those springs and toss them in the tool box , I loose one about every 2 yrs or so .
PS , Nice bike Thingfish , New ones don't usually do much for me but your is nicely done .

Thanks for the help guys, and the compliment. Ill try the "it's broke, need a new bike" with my wife. She'll get suspicious when the old one is still around though. I'll start with the oil cause I'm lazy tonight, then the new spring if that doesn't cover it. Wow, Friday night and no Viagra jokes for a limp kickstand...I'm almost disappointed. Have a good weekend everybody.
