I was hit by an off-duty cop who ran through a stop sign to hit me at 60mph.

How long before I rode again? The day both my casts came off.

I had a guy walk in front of me, it was either hit him or dump my bike. My Fatboy had 2865.00 in damage and I had to ride it home. Accidents do happen. All you can do is prepare yourself for every situation. I ride every day to work, 58 mile round trip. I work the 11-7 shift so it is in the dark with the deer out. Now that the deer are rutting I wear a full helmet and my body armor. Once they are done I go back to regular jeans/jacket. Take a MSF course. They are a great way to get started plus will prolly save you on insurance. Confidence is the best thing you can take with you when you get on the bike.
Ride safe

Went down about five years ago, broken hip, three ribs. It took a month to get back to where I could ride. Longer until I healed. The first ride was a little tense, but then the fun kicked in and it's just a memory.

It took me 6 mos. to get back on after bike was fixed. I was fortunate, only 9 broken ribs and a broken collar bone. Getting back to feeling like I did before the accident, well I'm still waiting on that feeling...

It's always the ones that go down (usually on each other) that take the attitude that everyone is gonna crash..to make themselves feel better about their lack of riding abilities ...

and you took it completely out of context , but I could see how you would wanna jump on the bandwagon because that is the popular position to take here...

Yep,,, started with mini bikes then dirt bikes then street bikes at about age 17, been riding every since and I'm 52.
Been down once on the street. No time to react,, I don't care how many classes I would have taken.
But to answer you question,,, it took me about a week to even be able get a leg over the bike to get it to a shop. Then a few weeks for the repair. Been riding every since.

Cool

6 months. I had reconstructive surgery on my right wrist/hand/arm, so as
I was waiting for that to heal, winter set in with a vengeance.
Just as soon as I could, I was on a bike.

My feelings exactly. What an ***. It happens to the VERY best. As far as the OP, if your able, dust yourself off and give the bike the once over. Best medicine is to get back on and go, if you and the bike are able. If any doubts, take the ambulance ride and the towing bill in stride. No one is perfect. Although some on here seem to think it couldn't happen to them. Thats not real experience talking, tho. To even give that advice is foolhardy. Don't take it.
