My buddy gave me mine and I will move it from bike to bike as it was a gift. Having said that, I don't believe I will ever get rid of this bike, so it'll probably be there for awhile.

My baby daughter gave me one after I had a major crash. I haven't had any more crashes. ********* This bell is gonna stay with me, regardless of where the bike goes.

i think i've got half a dozen of them which were all given to me from friends or dealerships. they're in my tool box. i'm not superstitious and really don't feel the need to have something else that rattles on the bike. each to their own though.

Some people don't beleive but I lost mine off the bike and the next day I picked up a 6 inch long 1/2 inch bolt in my rear tire. It was drove pretty much striaght into the tire.

Now, figure out how a 6 inch bolt stands up on the road for a tire to run over it.

I had three different family members buy me new bells, I have two on the bike just in case.

Have had one and have moved it to my new bike. Never heard it was bad luck to move it. Was at the Harley dealer when I transferred it and they didn't say it was bad luck.

Have heard that someone else is to buy it for you though.

It's bad luck to move them only if you think it's bad luck to move them.

Quite easy, the nail or bolt is lying on the road, probably facing in the direction you are come in - with the head furthest away. As you ride over it the head is forced to rotate which picks the tip up. If that gets some purchase in the tyre it will simply keep driving through.

As for bells, I think they are great fun but not common in UK. Bought a couple for friends whilst I was on tour in the US in September and they were delighted

Wife bought my guardian bell. Transferred it from the 08 Ultra Classic to the 2010 Ultra Classic Limited.

I have one on my HD in memory of my brother, who was killed on his HD while out riding one night. When I hear it chime, it's a reminder he is still with me. That's my reason, right or wrong.

And I strongly disagree with this guys post..."DMorr99; I think they're gay."
