Default Did anyone get good deals on helmets etc. when buying a brand spankin new bike?

Hey all,
I am currently in the obsession stage about riding looking up everything from helmets to jackets, first time riders course and exhaust. The safety equiptment can add up real fast and I don't want to skimp if I buy (hopefully) my forty eight in june. Did any one get a helmet thrown in to the deal or maybe a discount on a riding jacket? 10K is alot of money for a bike let me know if you had some positive experiences or even tips on how to get a deal on helmets and what not. Thanks for the help this forum rocks!

Got a good deal on the bike - so no free or discounted extras... except for a few t-shirts.

You can always offer a price on a bike and ask to have a helmet thrown in. Some HD helmets are under $100 so they wont mind maybe.

Or can ask If you can get 10,20 % off or whatever you want to bargain with them.

But yes If you have a good dealership/salesman you can get discounted/some gear thrown in the deal.

I already had riding gear, but the saleman did give me 10% off $2000+ in parts I ordered and installed myself once they came in.

I bought my bike during that promo, but Dyna's were only 1k. But since they took off like 1500 off the bike I didn't get the 1k in parts. I'm sure I could have negotiated more, but I didn't care. I just wanted the bike!!

It was no promo when I got my bike.
I put a deposit on it in July 2007 and the bike was finally delivered to the dealer almost the end of May 2008.
I made a few calls to MOCO asking WTH was the hold up on bikes that were to be released Sept 2007.

After those calls, the saleman called and said, "I don't know who's butt you lit a fire under but your bike is actually in the shipping channel now."
He gave me the VIN number so I could get it covered on my insurance.

Once I knew it was on the way, I went down and ordered $3000 worth of parts. The $2000+ was the second order of parts I made when I picked the bike up.

The dealership I bought from gives 10% off parts for a year as part of the purchase. So, I got 10% on my helmet, I still have 10 months to get more out of it.

My dealer, American Motorcycle Classics, in Albany, OR gives a 15% discount on all harley merchandise in the store. 10% if it has to be ordered. It helps. No such deal on the bike lol.

My wife and I bought used Sportsters and we got a full refund ($300) for taking the MSF (not HD Riders Edge) course a couple of months before and about a $150 store credit at Cincinnati Harley Davidson. That was with the 2 cheapest XLs in the store.
