IT IS A SCAM! I buy and sell bikes and probably come across 3-4 weekly of these. Craigslist is a breeding ground for these douche bags. Some will even send you a cashiers/cerified check that looks incredibly real, even with a watermark.
Like momma always said: If it looks to good to be true.............

ebay buyer protection is not an up front deal handler, more of an insurance under certain parameters for purchasers made through ebay. Lots of internet scammers have ability to send ebay look alike emails. Scam a rama!

Yeah, that's a scam done only slightly better than those Nigerian guys who want to send $10,000,000 to your bank account.

They didn't actually go through Ebay, which is the first tip=off, since that's the only way to get Ebay Buyer Protection.

Contact Ebay and ask them. I agree though, seems like a scam. Generally if it seems to good to be true, it's because it is.

no seller in their right mind would shoulder all the risk of a long distance deal - so he'll pay shipping to you, "risk" that he doesnt get paid if you don't like the bike after you "do whatever" to it for 5 days, then if you don't want it he'll also pay to have it shipped back? no chance

(shipping both ways can be 1-2k dollars)....
