Do any of you HOG members know if the secretary of a chapter can be a non-HOG member? The local HOG chapter secretary recently resigned and the executive committee appointed one of the Assistant Director's wives as acting secretary. I have always thought you had to be a full member of the national HOG to serve on the executive board. I also thought that only one Harley could be tied to one full membership. Am I right , wrong and is there any wiggle room? It just seems like a conflict of interest to me to have a non-HOG member spouse on the executive board because one of the main duties for the secretary is to enforce the membership rules. If you can help please cite where I can find the info you provide.

The secretary is a primary officer just as the director is and must be a member. If it's temorary for a short time it's just up to the chapter.

I have no idea what goes on in HOG but this sounds like a glaring example of why so many people on here seem to dislike it. Is this really a big deal in your chapter? This kind of stuff is exactly why I could not do HOG.

Check you chapters by-laws to see what it say's in regards to primary officers.

Agree that a primary or discretionary officer for that matter should be a full HOG member.

Yes they have to be a full member. and no you can be a member of any chapter you want. you can hold memberships in several chapters as long as you pay your dues.
