joing a club
so since ive finally got a harley, a friend of mine wants me to join his veterans mc.
the bad thing is its based out in british columbia, and im in saskatchewan.
now he has a group of the guys in edmonton alberta which is about 8.5hrs away from where i live and i would have to go up there everyone week or second week to move from recruit to actual member.
im just wondering, would you guys do this? i dont know if i can go every week due to work or whatever.
btw this is a veterans mc,
i dunno, i might just make up my own logo and ride around, but then again i could always just look good on my own

If you're going to join a club, do it because you enjoy the company of the people and it's something you really want to do. Sounds like, to me at least, that a ride like that would make you start resenting it pretty quickly. Eight and a half hour drive just for meetings. What happens when you need to go volunteer more time for events or runs, or charity or whatever they might need the new guy to help out with?

theres no lack of interest, i just play in two different pipes and drums band (been playing since i was 12) and one of them is serious competition and the other is the local infantry units band that i play with. both of them have practices over the weekend as well as other things i volunteer for.
yea i think right now life is hectic, so i'll have to wait and see what happens after i come home from deployment

Riding with and patching for a club means that you've surrendered some of your freedom of choice -- club "support" can mean a LOT of different things.
Take a good look at that "come to the club house" requirement. 8.5 hours each way is one helluva trip to make and will likely get old very quickly.
As was said above, there's a fellowship when riding with a club and that is a pretty long trip for fellowship.

Might want to check out this site to get an idea of what it's all about

It's only an overview but might help you in making a decision.
