Default A Dyna and an FXR are not the same model

So why are so many ads for either type of bike are often called FXR/Dyna or vice-a-versa? Supposedly knowledgable sales outlets apparently don't know what's-what. The Dyna REPLACED the FXR. I can't believe the number of so-called experts that don't know this.

Maybe cause on ebay they are called that......FXR DYNA.
I love it, 1997 ( etc ) FXR/DYNA, bidding starts at......
I agree, it sounds dumb to an FXR owner. Oh well.

How true it was i dont know but i did read somewhere that the FXR frame
was a lot better than the Dyna, but Harleys stopped producing it because the Dyna frame was cheaper to make.

I've read that as well.....

the FXR was a "riders" bike designed by Erik Buell etc instead of a "profit margin" bike designed by the bean counters

some interesting FXR info here http://www.hotbikeweb.com/features/1...fxr/index.html

and here http://www.hdfxr.dk/public/FXR/FXRHistory.aspx

and finally a picture of my own FXR...

1990 version with a 103" S&S and an all andrews trans

They are clumped together because they were both the original rubber mounted non-touring class Harleys. They are the same class bike, but we all know they don't really compare at all.

The FXR is superior, without a doubt.

I'll put my Fatbob against any FXR any day. There's a new king now.
