When the typical twinkie can go as many hours as the typical Evo without having to change something like a cam tensioner assembly, then I'd say the twinkie is a better engine. 'Til then, I'll stick with the Evo.

Now, a twinkie with gear-driven cams ....

I like the TC88, but have nothing to compare it to. The only other harley I owned was a 76 sportster. It seems like all of the custom bike builders use a "EVO" style engine, i'm not sure if it is because all the aftermarket frames seem to be set up for those, or the TC88 has not caught on yet.

Never owned a EVO, last one before the TC88 was a shovel 80 c.i. It was an improvement over the 74 but just barely. This TC88 is so sweet despite the cam chain tensior issues. I am not even interested in trading up to an 07 at this point. I cruise down the highway at 75-80 all day long with the stock pipes just a humming along. Another thing, I never owned a Harley past 30,000 miles and I have nearly 49,000 on this one. I would have overhauled a 74 twice by now.

seems I'm never satisfied!
Shov, Evo or Twin cam, I just want more.
They don't stay stock for long.
Most fun on two wheels is a sleeper with wide eyes in the mirrors.

Evo, but I sure like the look of the shovel though. Bulletproof like a Timex. Tim
