Default Seat scuffing Gast Tank, Console & Rear Fender

Seat has caused significant scuffing to tank, console, and rear fender.

Anybody else have this issue?
09 FLHTC, bike only has 3,000 KMS / 1,800 miles and when I remove the
seat I can see the marks from the seat rubbing on the tank & fender.

Is this normal for the touring models?
Never had this problem with my 09 Fatboy.

Thanks in advance.

Your sense of humour fails to amuse me.
I removed it in order to put on a solo seat.

Hopefully I can get this back on track.
I just want to know if this is a common problem.
You'd think the seat could rest on the bike without causing damage to the surface of the painted areas.

Thanks to those who take the time to reply with a reply that makes it worth my logging back on to view, and not just to amuse themselves with replies like the one I just had.

I thought it was funny.... but, I do have a twisted sense of humor.

did you remove the clear tape HD puts on the fenders so the seat won't scratch?

Yep, it's normal if you ride it.

i gotta admit, that was the first thing i thought of too. the console should still be covered up by the solo seat, so not such a big deal on that scuff. for the fender, try some scratch-x by meguires and a couple of good coats of wax and polish it nice.

hopefully, something like that will make it not so noticeable, and you can avoid a trip to the body shop.

Unfortunately, it happens. The clear protective plastic mentioned isn't put on touring tanks and fenders (unless added after the purchase). The more it gets ridden, the more the scuffing will happen. Mine is pretty scuffed up now (about 27K ATM), oh well.

My 2010 Street Glide also started to rub. I was messing with my bike after only a few miles and when I popped the seat I too found scuffing. Not my idea of a great design, as I too am planning to switch to a solo seat. At least I discovered the problem early and made up some rubber bumpers to place under the seat and reduce the rubbing for now. Yes there are some great 2 and 3 step polish products that work well on the scuffed paint.
