that would be directly proportional to his credit rating
below 500 - loose & sloppy (probably STD)
501 -600 - probably just lays there waiting for him to get finished
601 -650 - makes an occasional noise
650- 700 - multiple positions allowed
750 and above whooz yer daddy!

I was lucky, as mine was a lot higher than expected.
But he also explained that rejections and acceptance are more than JUST your number.
In fact, while waiting for the approving guy to look at my info, we watched a credit app pop up on his screen (showing the "pending approval" log) that got rejected even though the guy's score was 810.
The way he explained it, the score just gives what range of Percentage Rate you'll get....but final approval or rejection is more based on your debt/income ratio.

I'm with the dude that got pissed.
I was raised that there are certain questions you just don't ask people.
How much do you make?
How much money do you have?
Mam, how old are you?
You know....real personal stuff. Yes, your credit score is a very personal thing. You just don't ask people that question.
There is PLENTY of information on credit scores and qualifying online. There are many free programs where you can obtain your score. The best thing to do is go to your bank and sit down with a loan officer. Explain what you want to do and tell them you don't know jack about getting loans, credit scores, debt/income ratio's. Your Loan Officer will be happy to tell you how much you can borrow and at what rate. Get it done and PRE-APPROVED.
Then go shopping with a Sight Draft in hand.

If you had reworded your post to something like " My credit score is xxx and my debt ratio is 3 to 1 what credit tier would I qualify for?" You might have received a better response. Right now HD is offering 5% loans for 4 years for tier one applicants.
