K & P engineering reusable oil filter
#11
if you do the math lets say you pay $10 for a HD filter (example) and you change the filter 1 time per year (average) you would basically be able to change your oil for 17 years to break even, hmm I will pass.

I've used the Pure Power for 50k miles, no issues so far.
It looked easier to clean than the K&P.
The filter itself comes off the other parts and makes cleaning it easy.
Bike still doesn't use oil between changes (3-5 a year).
I don't really care what the nay-sayers say about it...........

I checked out the pure power website, the filters look very similar and make the same claims?? who knows

As if changing oil isn't sloppy enough, now you can play filter cleaner an prolong the fun. Didn't they invent throw away filters so you wouldn't have to deal with the mess of cleaning your old one?.,,

change oil once a year??? i change at least 5 times a year. Our weather pretty much lets us ride year round in MS
I am fortunate as I put 16k on the fatboy & 4k on my SG & changed oil 3 times.
Most of guys I ride with work 5 days a week and only get to ride on weekends & odd night between the weather & family life & honey do list.
I was reading some place that the average working stiff HD owner put on 8k a year?? but that also would depend on where you live I would think.
For these guys & me a $175 fliter would be as waste of $$$ and the cleaning as mentioned
a forum member post a good read on oil filters,

So it takes an extra 30 minutes, big deal.........

But it takes only 20 seconds to put a screw type filter on. And how do you know for SURE you cleaned the "clean it yourself" good enough?,,

Guess what...there is never anything totally new. Always a take-off or "improvment" on an old idea come back to life.
"How can you be sure you got it clean?".....you can't....and you won't. It is not possible.
Your iron..your money...do what you want.
My money is on a filter that meets or exceeds the factory recommendations.
Filters are cheap insurance, and they don't make a cleanable one that is capable of anything even remotely close to 5 micron.
Just my 2p's....and worth what ya paid for it.
