Dave you da man. Why not put your hat in to be a judge! Your thinking is what the judicial system needs, not the typical crap that some of the activist judges allow to become law. Don't care if you have the law training or not, those with it sometimes sure talk out their butts.

Just another waste of life chasing a dollar, high speed pursuits kill people all the time and should be outlawed except in cases where the person fleeing has done a hanis crime, as to the officer, the article said he went off the left shoulder and hit a bag of cement, Id say he had lost controll by not maintaning his lane, but the bag sealed his fate, not the fault of the bike at all. sad still the same, but this lawsuit is just about the money

HD has many high speed wobble suits against it, this is probably what prompted this lawsuit.
This is very troubling for me to read. It's not so much that I'm afraid of my bike going into wobble mode (I can just keep the speed down to prevent that), but the fact that the MOCO seems to be doing nothing to prevent it. They just did a major redesign of their engines and trannies for '07, including 700 new parts, but nothing to address the 'death wobble?' Certainly, if it comes down to cost, losing your **** in court for a faulty product, accompanied by the subsequent bad press, would cause even the tightest bean counter to think that spending the money to improve the product is a better way to go. Why aren't they addressing this? Are they in denial?
It's the Suzuki Samarai thing again. Several years ago, Consumer Reports pronounced the Suzuki Samarai unstable and unsafe for tipping over in high speed avoidance manuveurs. It pretty much ended the Samarai's short life after plenty of lawsuits citing the article as proof that Suzuki was selling an unsafe product. Now, the Samarai probably was prone to overturning if the wheel was whipped suddenly at high speed, but so is a Jeep Wrangler and any other high center of gravity short wheelbase vehicle like all the SUV's that overturn daily.

I've read the articles about Electra Glide wobbles and weaving in Motorcycle Consumer News that are being used to justify these lawsuits. It concerned me when I bought my first Electra Glide. Since then, I've ridden with my sport bike buddies on their BMW's, Kawasaki Concours, and Yamaha FJR1300's at speeds above 90mph on many occassions to racing events, Bike Week, and other events on both the EGlides I've owned. I have yet to experience one of these high speed wobbles or weaving. I've even exited interstate ramps at a pretty good clip and didn't notice any signs of instability. I've ridden more than a few mountain roads at a pace that has sparks flying off the floorboards even with the suspension aired up pretty good. Hey, it's a big, heavy touring bike so it doesn't handle like my Suzuki sport bike, but I've never felt my Electra Glides doing anything unusual or unexpected.

The way I see it, while HD's product may not have been totally at fault in this situation, the electraglide has had a known high speed wobble problem for quite some time. Long enough for the aftermarket to research, test, prototype, and produce products like the true track that eliminate it on most bikes its used on.

Harley could do the same thing true track has done, and manufacture in a third rubber motor mount for the FLH line, but it would cost them some money; while so far producing a product with faults has not cost them much of anything. From what I understand, the old FXR bikes had the third mount, and Eric Buell knows about the problem and has a third mount on all his bikes...so its not as if they don't have an easy way of fixing it.

I kinda hope the motor company does lose in this suit, although not the local dealership. HD might finally move on this minor issue and produce the best handling FLH's ever.
