Thanks for the responses. As far as the question about the "new" bike, I bought it used from a private party. As far as the towing charge, yeah I felt it was unreasonable but when your stuck with no shops open within 60 miles, I was kind of at their mercy. In hindsight, I should of planned things out alittle better. Getting a flat was probably the furthest thing from my mind. I will check on getting the towing coverage through HOG as I do tend to do alot of travelling by myself. I do have a trailer, but that doesn't do me much good if I have no one at home to come get me.

 

I have the HOG roadside assistance that comes with the HOG membership and pay the extra $19.95 for the deluxe package which seemed like a no brainer to me.

 

From what I've heard and sounds like your experience AAA is about the worst you can have.

 

I use ERS by Good Sam. It covers all my vehicles, including my Sporty, and family members. Pretty good deal for $99 a year...

I have AAA plus w/RV covers everything I have and a couple of things I want. Also tows 100 miles....I've used it on cars more then once. Basic does not cover bikes and has a 7 mile limit. The extra coverage for the bike/RV/etc was about the same as the HOG stuff so we just stuck with AAA. Not sure if I could have had HOG come get me in the middle of Yosemite but there is a AAA tow right in the park.

 

Even though I have roadside assistance through Foremost Insurance, I took the top of the line package with the HOG membership, for an additional $30 per year. Pays for everything.
