Yep and rubbing alcohol works to clean those that need glued on.

Can you use thread lock to secure the toppers. Seams like it would be easier to remove than silicone.

Most toppers won't need any silicone. You may find that round head (allen heads) around the primary fit a little looser than hex bolt heads. Silicone is best as it is alot easier to remove the cap and clean than lock tite would be. Just put a small dab in the topper and push it on, easy as that!

Hot Toppers are nice looking, but from a practical standpoint they will end up costing you as much if not more than a nice set of chrome or stainless steel bolts in the long run. If you take your bike in for service, you may find you are charged extra in some cases for the service department to "get them out of their way". Some will likely end up damaged from removal as well...soon you will find the bolt set would have been a better investment. I had hot toppers on the handlebar clamp on my Wide Glide, when I sold my original bars and riser I tried to remove them, I had to completely destroy them to get them off.

Default Hot Toppers

The guys in the service dept. of the local dealer will give them back to you in a box..I wouldn't want to pay somebody 60-80 bucks per hour to take them off then put back on. Stainless would be cheaper in the long run...

If your concerned, wash the engine with dish soap, dry and apply the covers. Use silicone if needed then S100 it all again.
