I've ruined some good chrome by using very fine steel wool. The more elbow grease, the bigger the damage.

Don't do it.

DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL ON CHROME!!! EVER!!!

Get some Easy-Off spray-on oven cleaner. That should do it, without harming the chrome.

+1000000000000000000

Try some diluted simple green....5 parts water, 1 part cleaner in a spray bottle. Let it stand on the stuff....spray some more on, then wipe with a CLEAN microfiber towel.

My jeans after a while will leave marks on my pipes, when I get the bike home after a long ride I will use some Easy Off and the stuff comes right off.

I am so impressed that you have a 140 IQ and are a top exec with the 4th rated multimedia company! Who really gives a **** when you are not bright enough to know microfiber is made from plastic and plastic melts! Then to top it off you are so damn smart you throw the entire kitchen sink at the fix before thinking about the scratches you are gonna cause. 140 IQ huh. Best of luck when you buy your new V&H's.
