Wheelies on your Harley?

RE: Wheelies on your Harley?
On my 03 stock dyna wide glide (except for Thunderheader exhaust) I can wheelie with a passenger, which apparently kicks up the front end rather than spinning the rear wheel. I'm not an engineer, but I think that's why I've never popped a wheelie w/out a bitch on board.
Be careful, though. Popping the clutch can cause considerable wear, and landing your front end back on the ground can't be good news for your suspension.

RE: Wheelies on your Harley?
My 72 XLCH did wheelies quite easily, especially after I put on the 6" over stock fork tubes. I was 17 back then and imortal, so I did them all the time. I could ride it several blocks on the back wheel. Of course I went over backwards a few times too. Now, at 54, I ain't so imortal and I don't like wrecking all the chrome, so I keep both wheels on the ground most of the time.

I used to wheelie my older Harleys and was mostly curious just figure out how to do it.The biggest problem I ever had was finding traction. The new 124" bike I have is fun just keeping the front tire skimming.Too manyBig Inch Bagger riders I know have huge dents on top of the front fender when they come back down. One guy who really loves doing it extended his front-end 2" to stop the dents.

Most Hot Rod Harley's are capable of pulling wheelies.I for one just like to Roast the Hides going through powershifts, feeling the front end lift and holding it as long as it will go.The more Cubic Inches your packing, the farther you can carry the front end.It must come from the love of Drag Racing.

With a little head work I bet you could get anything up on one wheel....
Course its gonna take some crazy skill to keep it there balanced.
If yo uwant to see some sporty wheelies go search for Jason Pullen http://www.myspace.com/jasonpullenstunts

I can bang one on my FXDBI. It is not nearly as much fun as doing one on my old crotch rockets. I just don't care for the feel of my bike wheels up, but when a show needs to be put on, I have crashed to provide a good laugh.....
The older I get the less I do this stuff though.

Mine will wheelie in 3rd gear. I haven't done it - it scares the $hit out of me. I have had it up in 2. With the right mods even an 80 EVO can breathe fire - they don't have to have big inches.
