INS doesn't exist anymore

and what exactly would you have the cops or "INS" do about this? deport the dead dog? It was probably an American dog that died doing what dogs do

You'd be happily surprised at how close a good paint shop can match your 'custom one of a kind paint scheme.' We live in the computer world, and paint shops can match just about any paint color where the human eye can't tell the difference.

Get the parts from Harley. Then check around for a good painter and get your bike fixed.

Hey, Don't sweat the bike, or the sheet metal. You had no major injuries, your a very lucky soul.

Sheet metal can be cut, sanded, painted or replaced, a crooked butt is hard to straighten back up!

Just give thanks that your OK and make notes of the rest of it, in your "Lessons in Life" book!

I 2nd this post.... with modern color matching technology even the most difficult paints can be matched to never know the difference.

Glad you walked away and you had some gear on.

Some insurance companies require special riders for one off custom stuff, including paint. I hope its the dog owners who are making this right? Sorry to hear this.
I agree 100% with this post. Glad you are ok man.

The dog had no tags and it was in an area that is mainly migrant works from south of the border. Even the cops didn't want to get involved because it would probably involve INS. Oh well.. I hope they don't total it cause i love this bike and paint job.
Wife's Sporty is at HD of NT's sister dealership in Corinth for fender and tank. Fender came in at 5 weeks. Tank is due any time now. Guys there told me the HD target is 28-35 business days to complete paint and ship, then another week or so for transit. Note that's 28-35 days AFTER they receive your parts, unless you're buying new tin.

What's a guy to do?
I hate to hear that, but that's kind of what it sounds like to me. I went with dairyland and a rep who specializes in Harleys/motorcycles. KBB/NADA mean absolutely nothing to Harley's. She knew what to insure my ride for (just to give you an idea, I have over 13K on my '95 wide glide including the allowances for after market)

Not all is lost, Insurance reps are trained to throw the minimum number out there at first. Get your info together (examples of what other bikes are selling for in the area, ect...) and bring that to them. Don't be afraid to raise a little hell, and when you start talking about involving lawyers, you'll be surprised how fast that number goes up.
