no doubt, hit up the owner if the dog had tags.

Default The dog was probably trying to attack you

and paid a steep price. I don't like pit bulls at all and while I'm a animal lover I feel no sadness at all when one of them gets killed. Sorry if that offends but I had to shoot one a few years ago because it was trying to eat a puppy. They serve no purpose as a pet at all and more often than not are a mirror of their owners.

Glad to hear you're ok.

Watch the engine guard. Any bend at all to the guard and it usually bends/tears the mounting tab on the frame. Dealers won't fix a frame these days due to liability concerns. The result is often a totaled bike, or a frame replacement. I'm going through that right now.

This could get real expensive, real fast. I'd fill out a police report, and get the dog owner's insurance involved. My bike's been at the dealer six weeks now - still waiting on parts (frame, fender). Even standard colors like my glacier pearl white fender will take weeks or months.

I appreciate everyone's response and well wishes. I will update as thing progress. Just dropped it off at the dealer HD of North Texas of 35 yesterday. They seem pretty sharp. Zac the service insurance guy said they more than likely have to send it back to HD for repaint (might have to do the whole thing because it has a mottled silver finish on the top of the hard bags and fenders) Said probably 8-12 week turn-around. The dog had no tags and it was in an area that is mainly migrant works from south of the border. Even the cops didn't want to get involved because it would probably involve INS. Oh well.. I hope they don't total it cause i love this bike and paint job.

Go after the dog owner. Liens on homes get then thinking you are serious. Nothing like a good laywer.

That's complete BS. I'd have called INS if the cops wouldn't... That burns my a$$.

Glad your ok, Hope you get the bike fixed right! If you really love the bike and they total it buy it back! Fix it right yourself or have someone else do the work. You'll get it cheap and the $ you should get should cover the fix. If not shop for a new insurance co. Don't let them screw you over.

Update: Insurance called and the frame is cracked so it will require a new frame. Also MOCO will no longer repaint the Customer Numbered paint as it has been retired.

Insurance guy is telling me that since the bike is really a 03 Road King Shrine worth `$10K stock according to NADA and the paint job is an additional $4K plus $1000.00 in Extras that makes the bike's "value" $15,000 and they have a 2/3 totaling cost to repair vs the bikes real "Value". So the repairs would have to total more than $10K. He believes he can have it "repaired" with a new frame and the paint done by a local painter to match for less than $10K they will probably not total it!
The real pisser is that if they do total it they will only pay me the $10K plus the $3K in additional coverage for a total of $13K.

I kind of went off that they are using a double standard to there advantage and he then pointed out that I had it under insured.

What's a guy to do?
