how many of you have a "theme" for your bike?

i've gone with the comfortable scheme.. i've made a few changes with the seat, risers and windshield height all in the pursuit of being more comfortable...
i would like to put a "fatboy" shifter rod on, but at 150 bucks, they can keep it.
this is what i would like to have put on the frt fender somewhere along the line..

I would recommend reliability as your initial theme. Get all the worn out/iffy parts replaced on the mechanical side. Then go from there.
Oh, the skulls thing is being done to death. Someone mentioned WWII bomber look, that would be sweet.

I have just about every Willie G. Skull you can get on a bike. The things I don't have are the mirrors and levers. Those are the only things I can think of.

Personally, I went with the '65-'67 Electra Glide look. Or theme if you want...
Why?
The Road King is based on the Electra Glide platform, which was introduced in '65, being as that was the first year for electric start, makes sense with an electric start Road King.
The Road King with hard bags looks very similar to the EG of that era. I went with half moon floorboards, which ended in '65, '66 was the first year for the D shape. I put on old school round mirrors because the tear drop shape which everyone thinks is classic, really isn't, since the MoCo never had anything like that in that era.
The front and rear fender rails (for touring models) are actually something that HD didn't introduce until '68. The ones you can put on soft tails are actually more authentic for a '67 and below look I guess. I never bothered to see if they fit. Anywho...the nostalgic saddlebag rails were introduced in '64 or '63, so they look correct for that mid '60's look.
Wide whites of course always look nice, and the Memphis Shades color gradient windshields will always look nice if you're going for that era look. A lot of chrome as most Dressers in the '60's were pimped out. I did a shortened light bar in the rear, and kept the upright license mount, the HD Fat Bars have somewhat of the same look that bars did from that era. Front fender light from a Heritage Springer, that style light was somewhat common on Dressers in that era.
Other stuff you can see, but I'm tired of typing. LOL...
