Default Bikes and Tow Trucks

Just interested in hearing any experiences you guys had with bikes and tow trucks.

My bike has been out of commission for almost 3 weeks while I've been screwing around with it. I'm finally at the end of my rope so I'm thinking of calling a tow truck to bring it down to a repair shop.

There's a listing in the yellow pages for motorcycle towing, so I hope they have some special skills or equipment. Is this pretty routine for tow truck drivers?

Thanks.

If you have a trailer hitch on your cage, I would recommend just renting or borrowing a trailer and talking it yourself. If you do call a towing company make sure they are properly equipped to haul a bike.

No deal on the trailer hitch. Might be my next purchase though, after I pay for these repairs.

I had my towed a couple of times and they always brought a flat bed or a trailer to haul it to the repair shop. Haven't had a problem.

I have AAA Plus/Rv which tows a bike with a flat bed. I've never used it, fortunately, but I do have my own mc trailer and it has come in handy.

Buy a trailer hitch and rent a trailer....probably will still end up cheaper than a tow

call the shop you are towing it to, they may have a trailor or will know someone who is equipped to tow a bike.

If ya do go the tow truck route, make sure you got a pair or two of soft straps. I even carry a set of them with me at all times in case of a need tow.
